April 12th is the 57th anniversary of the first manned flight into space. We’re paying tribute to humanity’s exploration of space with a compilation made entirely from radio emissions recorded by spacecraft and converted to audio.
Celebrate the International Day of Human Space Flight and Yuri’s Night and download the compilation at https://fuzzypanda.bandcamp.com/album/lvii-xxxvii.
This compilation features a wide array of compositions by Chester Hawkins, Arthur Loves Plastic, J. Surak, Michael Hendley, Love of Ruins, Fast Forty, Small Craft, Immanent Voiceless, BLK TAG, NarkotroniK, Inffinte Sstar Zzero, and PraxisCat.
We have a brand new album out! It’s called DEATHLESS, by Small Craft. It’s ambient drone and the CDs selling fast, which is weird, because it’s ambient drone. Small Craft just played some shows in Seattle, Portland, Oakland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles in support of the album and will be playing shows around Washington, D.C. in the not-so-distant future.
A few new releases are on the way! Oddly enough, two are by bands that capitalize their entire band names.
FACE-EATERS OF HONG KONG is up first. Their debut EP, EATING FACES EP, will be available in August on a pay what you want basis. It was recorded in Texas and DC and sounds like super crazy music from the future.
After that, we’ll have the debut of the cross-country drone band RETIREMENT. Based in DC and California, RETIREMENT does glacially-paced intense drones. Their EP is brought to you by Small Craft and STUPID CHILDREN.
We will also be releasing a drone compilation, featuring a number of great artists from DC. There will be more on this later, but it sounds awesome.
This album should be played over headphones or large speakers, loudly, to enjoy fully the waves of feedback and reverb. It contains recordings of chainsaws, a woodchipper, the Ojibwe language, synthesizers (hardware, software, and iPhone), and piccolo bass.
