Remember When We Were Thriving

For some time now, artists in and around the orbit of the Panda have been quietly exchanging files, fragments, long-form recordings, loops, textures, field recordings, and unfinished ideas. Some of these artists have worked together for years. Some have crossed paths only occasionally through shows, compilations, online exchanges, or overlapping projects. What emerged from these connections is Remember When We Were Thriving, our newest compilation.

The compilation features work from:

  • Chester Hawkins
  • Kreisecho
  • Nathan McLaughlin
  • Beau Finley
  • Michael Hendley
  • TL0741
  • Jardin Grotesk
  • Immanent Voiceless
  • Tag Cloud
  • dedBoi

Spanning ambient music, drone, tape manipulation, modular synthesis, improvised electronics, and other difficult-to-categorize approaches to sound, Remember When We Were Thriving is not a unified genre statement. It’s a document of continued activity, of proof of life, so to speak, in the midst of a society evolving in awful yet predictable ways.

Some tracks are dense and slow-moving. Others are brittle, unstable, or nearly evaporative. Across the compilation are recurring themes of memory, duration, interference, repetition, collapse, and persistence.

Remember When We Were Thriving continues that tradition while reflecting the particular atmosphere of the present moment: fragmented scenes, isolated creative practices, and the strange endurance of underground music communities long after they stop being visible from the outside.

The compilation will be available on our Bandcamp: https://fuzzypanda.bandcamp.com/.
