new MULE DEATH coming

We’re excited to announce Mule Death’s followup to 2017’s Symmetry. That EP was one 24-minute synth-laden sojourn into claustrophobia, possibly on a large ship.

The new EP, titled Rangeland, finds Mark Sharpe on the plains of Alliance, Nebraska. We expect it to be out early next month. You can stream Symmetry below.

Jeffrey Prosser

Jeffrey Prosser, a D.C. graphic designer and integral part of the Washington, D.C. experimental music scene as both musician and promoter, passed away on April 3, 2015. He was an exceedingly sweet and generous man with many friends across D.C.’s various music and arts scenes and beyond. Shortly after his death, two memorial concerts were organized in Adams Morgan and Fredericksburg, Virginia. Now, some of his musician friends have put together a compilation in his honor, titled Thirsty and Miserable, a phrase Jeffrey was particularly fond of.

The compilation features twenty-one artists (twenty-two for the downloadable version) who knew and loved Jeffrey, featuring both locals and musicians from farther afield. The artwork includes designs by Jeffrey, including art for flyers he designed to promote shows around the DC area.  Proceeds from sales of the compilation go to Bread for the City, a charity selected by the Prosser family.

Jeffrey released a pretty amazing EP under the moniker Keep through Fuzzy Panda as well as an individual track the first Hydrophones compilation.

HALFBYTES

Halfbytes, the duo of J.S. Adams (BLK W/BEAR, BLK TAG) and Chester Hawkins (Blue Sausage Infant), will have their EP available through the Panda next week.

In the meantime, here they are from a set in Greenbelt, Maryland.

More New Music Afoot

There’s something about the word afoot that is fun to say.  Maybe it’s because of Sherlock Holmes.  2016 is looking to be quite the year for the Panda after a slow 2015.  First up will be Halfbytes, the glitch art project of J.S. Adams and Chester Hawkins.  Halfbytes’s debut will be of the Temporary Release variety.   This will be followed up by another Temporary Release Program album, also including J.S. Adams: BLK TAG.  From there, we’re looking at the long-awaited drone compilation Excerpts from Ten Innovative Workout Tapes.

Happy New Year!

EATING FACES

EATING FACES

A few new releases are on the way!  Oddly enough, two are by bands that capitalize their entire band names.

FACE-EATERS OF HONG KONG is up first.  Their debut EP, EATING FACES EP, will be available in August on a pay what you want basis.  It was recorded in Texas and DC and sounds like super crazy music from the future.

After that, we’ll have the debut of the cross-country drone band RETIREMENT.   Based in DC and California, RETIREMENT does glacially-paced intense drones.  Their EP is brought to you by Small Craft and STUPID CHILDREN.

We will also be releasing a drone compilation, featuring a number of great artists from DC.  There will be more on this later, but it sounds awesome.
